The many studies he made bear witness to his various ideas for the composition. In the beginning the prophetic figure of Brandano appeared on the left but was later eliminated, while in the definitive version the group of armored horsemen heading towards the walls to defend the city was replaced by the procession of figures dressed in white which we see in the oil sketch on display.
